Camp Attawandaron is located in the Carolinian Oak Savanna. It is one of the last true Oak Savannas in Southern Ontario. The camp is located along the Ausable Cut; an artificial channel that rerouted the river.
The Camp is adjacent to the southern border of the Pinery Provincial Park in an area of sand dunes close to Lake Huron. The Park has an interpretive Centre and an interpretive night hike.
The camp sits on a total of 190 acres full of life and excitement. There is a large area called "The Flats" that is perfect for games. The area is all sand so the kids can not get hurt. There are 3 fully marked trails with maps for various levels of hikers.
The camp also has a climbing wall (Which at this time is unavailable due to Scouts Canada new regulations, but may be available in the future) for the use of Scouts with prior approval, as well as an access to the cut for canoeing. The camp canoes are available for Scout groups to use as long as they are reserved upon registering.
Burr Lodge features a large dining room, kitchen, and 2 washroom facilities complete with showers and running hot water. Burr Lodge will accommodate a total of 100 campers. The "Block buildings" will sleep 18 campers and the Adirondacks will sleep 72 (without mattresses).There are a total of 12 Adirondacks with 6 bunks in each . The main lodge is equipped with hydro.
Beaver Lodge has a kitchen, dining hall, and 24 bunks (without mattresses). The Beaver Lodge has two washrooms. One of them has a shower, the other has two stalls and two sinks. It is also equipped with hydro!
There are also several cabins maintained by individual groups that may be rented. Water is from the municipal water supply and can be found at the water station located in the center of camp.
